Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa, or eCheck are accepted for Internet transactions. A Service Delivery fee will apply.

VEHICLE RENEWALS: You are eligible to renew online if your renewal notice contains a PIN number for online renewals.  Apportioned vehicles are not eligible for online renewal at this time.

PROPERTY TAX: If you pay your property tax by eCheck, you will be required to enter a receipt number as your PIN.  Your receipt number can be found on your tax statement.

DRIVER'S LICENSE AND IDENTIFICATION CARDS:

REAL ID: The implementation date for Real ID has been extended to May 7, 2025.

RENEW: You may be eligible to renew your driver license/identification card online at: https://mymvd.iowadot.gov/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fLicenseRenewal%2fVerify

MINORS: 

Instruction Permit Testing: Students can now take the web-based knowledge test that is required to obtain a driver's instruction permit in the comfort of their own home. A parent will be required to administer the test and the student will need an electronic device (not a phone or tablet) connected to the Internet.

To apply to take the test at home, the child must be at least 14 years old. First, the parent will need to complete and submit the Application to Proctor Knowledge Exam Form. Upon approval of the application, the parent and student will receive an email with instructions for taking and administering the test. After the test is completed, the student will receive an email with the test results and instructions.

There will be a $30.00 charge for return payments. eChecks that do not "clear" whether due to lack of funds or incorrect routing or account numbers entered, will also be charged a $30.00 fee.
