News From Your Treasurer:

      
NEW INFORMATION FOR CUSTOMERS WHO DO NOT RESIDE IN LYON COUNTY:
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2023, customers who DO NOT reside in Lyon County will be
assessed a $10 convenience fee for the issuance or renewal of a driver's license or non-operator's
identification card unless they pay property taxes in Lyon County and are able to provide proof of
payment.  THIS $10.00 CONVENIENCE FEE MUST BE PAID BY CASH.  (Iowa Code 321M.9)
 

 PASSPORTS:

              The U. S. Dept. of State has authorized the tax dept. of the Treasurer's office to accept
passport applications on their behalf.  U.S. citizens may apply for their passports at our office, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 2:30 pm, without an appointment.  Visit the official website - www.travel.state.gov - for forms, documentation required, fees and other valuable information. (2 checks are needed for payment)

TAX SALE - MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2024

Delinquent property taxes must be paid by 4:30 pm, May 31, 2024 to avoid newspaper publication.

Delinquent property taxes must be paid by 4:30 pm, June 14, 2024 to not be sold at Tax Sale.

Delinquent property taxes can be paid using the internet site thru June 13, 2024.

Vehicle Renewals: 
 You are eligible to renew online if you received a renewal notice through US Postal Service that contains a PIN NUMBER.  Renewals for half year license, apportioned vehicles, and specialized plates requiring annual documentation are NOT eligible for online renewal at this time. Also, if SR22 Proof of Insurance is required or you owe state or county debts, you are NOT eligible for online renewal at this time.  ( This is an enhancement that will be available in the future!!)

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

       Cash or check payments accepted in the office. 

       Visa, Mastercard and Discover debit/credit cards are accepted in the office for taxes or   motor vehicle payments. (fees will apply)

       Internet transactions are payable by: eCheck, Discover, MasterCard and Visa (fees will  apply)

Any transaction returned for insufficient funds will be charged a fee of $30.00.

 

DRIVERS LICENSE

Drivers License written testing is from 8:00 - 3:30

I would like to welcome you to the Lyon County Treasurers’ Home Page!  It is our goal to provide you with the information you need to contact us and to conveniently conduct business with this office 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.  The main areas of operation for the Treasurer’s office are the collection of property taxes for all real estate, mobile homes and special assessments in Lyon County, the issuance of vehicle titles and registrations and the collection of all vehicle fees for the residents of Lyon County, the issuance and renewals of driver’s licenses, and is also responsible for financial administration, banking services, cash management and investments for the county. The US Dept of State has authorized the tax office to accept passport applications from US citizens on their behalf. 

We strive to provide quality and courteous customer service to the residents of Lyon County and to anyone doing business with any of the departments of the Lyon County Treasurer’s Office.
