Property Taxes...

Property taxes are now available, payable in September 2023 and March 2024.  They are based on January 1, 2022 valuations (taxes from 7/1/2022 - 6/30/2023)

Property Tax Credits are available for individuals over the age of 65 or totally disabled between the ages of 18 and 64 and with an income of less that $25,328.  Also, for mobile home owners over age 23 with an income of less than $25,328.  There is also a rent reimbursement program available from the Iowa Department of Revenue with the same qualifications as above.  See the links below for the forms, or check at the Ida County Treasurer's Office for them.  Forms will be mailed in January, due back June 1, 2024.

Motor Vehicles...

Buying or Selling a vehicle?

A bill of sale is required for all motor vehicle title transfers.  Click here for a Bill of Sale

Effective January 1, 2021, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has put new requirements for odometer disclosure when a vehicle is transferred.  Any vehicle model year 2011 or newer requires an odometer disclosure.   For more information click here Odometer Notes

When you come to renew your vehicle registration, please bring your renewal notice or your plate number.  It makes finding the correct vehicle easier.

Experience The Convenience -- Pay Online!    

Discover, MasterCard, Visa and eCheck (electronic funds transfer) are accepted for Internet transactions.  This service will deliver your property tax and/or motor vehicle payment to the country treasurer on your behalf.  Credit/Debit cards may be used for transactions done in the office for a service charge.  We also have a drop box on the back side of the courthouse, near the Sheriff’s Office entrance.  There will be a $15.00 charge for NSF per Iowa Code Sec. 331.553.7

Pay Property Taxes

You may pay your property tax by eCheck or credit card through this Pay Property Taxes Link.  If paying by eCheck you will need to enter a receipt number as your PIN.  This number is located in the lower left hand corner of your tax stub.  Past due tax payments are accepted also.  You can also set up scheduled payments or email reminders.  Please contact the County Treasurer for payment of Tax Sale Certificates as they may NOT be redeemed over the internet site.  A surcharge of $15 will be assessed for a dishonored check, draft, or eCheck.  See Iowa Code Sec. 331.553.7

Pay Your Vehicle Tags

 You may renew online if you received a renewal notice through the US Postal Service that contains a PIN number.  Click on this link. Accepted online payment methods are eCheck, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Online service is not available if the vehicle registration fees are past due, proof of SR22 insurance is required or any state debts are owed.  An enhancement is in development to allow renewal of delinquent vehicles and half year licenses.  A surcharge of $15 will be assessed for a dishonored check, draft, or eCheck.  See Iowa Code Sec. 331.553.7

From the stoplights on Hwy 175 & 59 proceed south to the 4-way stop on 2nd Street downtown and continue 2 more blocks south.  Turn left and go 2 blocks east.  The courthouse is at the top of the hill.  The Treasurer’s Office is located in the north annex of the building.  Handicapped parking is available on the south side of the courthouse.  If you need wheelchair assistance,  please phone the office and we will meet you at the door.
