03/04/2025 CAR DRIVES WILL RESUME IN FULL AT OUR MILLS COUNTY LOCATION.

January 1, 2025: HF 674 has made changes to Iowa Code 321, including but not limited to fee increases related to vehicle titling.  You may read the full HF 674 at www.legis.iowa.gov. 

Property Tax and Vehicle Renewal payments can be paid in-person, online, by mail, or the drop box available outside on the southside of the building.

Did you know we will accept monthly payments for property tax payments? Taxes payable September 2024 and March 2025 are based on January 2023 assessment.  This assessment covers the July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 tax year.  Pay your current or delinquent taxes (excluding tax sale redemption) online at www.iowatreasurers.org with an E-check (.25 cent fee), Credit/Debit Card (Discover, Visa or Mastercard fee 2.25%). We accept credit/debit card payments in office (Credit Card 2.25% or Debit Card flat $2.00 fee) along with cash or check.

Mills County Online Tax Sale will begin at 9:00 am Monday, 6/16/2025. Register online before 11:59 pm June 12, 2025  at www.iowataxauction.com.  Bidders do not need to be present at the courthouse, all bids must be placed online,  and live bids will not be accepted.  For assistance with registration please contact: support@iowataxauction.com.

The Tax Sale is held the third (3rd) Monday of June and any unpaid taxes will be published and sold at the sale.  Guaranteed funds (cash, cashier's check or money order) are required for Tax Sale Redemption.

A $30.00 fee will be assssed on any returned payments.

Title transfer requirements: Title, Bill of Sale (signature is required by both seller and buyer), Title Application (signed by all parties to be on the title, available under Motor Vehicle Forms), and a valid IA Driver's License or IA Identification Card. Motor vehicle renewals/ registration can be processed the month before, the month of, or the month after the expiration month with no penalty. 

Our Driver's License is walk-in only, closes daily for lunch (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM). You can renew your drivers license here in the office, 30 days before or 60 days after your birthday.  Please see the hours listed for specific transaction needed.

Real ID deadline has been extended to May 2025

*Car Drives are offered on Tuesday mornings, by appointment only. CDL and motorcycle drives are not offered.

**PLEASE NOTE** - Beginning July 1st, 2023 customers who do not reside or pay property taxes in Mills County will be assessed a $10.00 convenience fee for all driver's license services. Collection of the convenience fee is pursuant to Iowa Code 321M.9.

An ATM is available on the main floor of the courthouse.

Closed for the following Holidays:

New Years Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (November 27th & 28th), Christmas (December 24th & 25th).

When you visit our office in person, you can pay property taxes, get your vehicle titled and/or registered, get your drivers licenses or permits, or receive a handicap placard.
