The Iowa Department of Revenue requires Bill of Sale for all vehicle transfers.
News From Your Treasurer:
Property Tax - Current year taxes and delinquent taxes not covered by a tax sale certificate are available for payment through this site. Please contact our office directly for tax sale redemption amounts.
- When entering parcel numbers, please enter only the numeric digits. For example, if your statement shows the parcel number WACWS 10-12-400-021,, enter only 1012400021. Do not enter any letters, dashes, or spaces.
- To search for parcel numbers by name, enter the last name first followed by comma, a space, and then all or part of the first name. For example, to search for al parcels owned by John Smith, enter: Smith, John.
- If paying by e-check, you will be asked to enter your six-digit Tax Receipt number. Your Tax Receipt number is located in the upper-right corner of each payment stub on your tax statement.
Motor Vehicle Registration Renewals - You are not eligible to renew online unless you received a renewal notice that contains a PIN number for online renewals.
- You are not eligible to renew online if proof of insurance is required, any state debts are owed, or the vehicle is apportioned.
A $30 service charge will be assessed on all e-checks returned due to insufficient funds.

Tax Sale Information
Washington County's annual tax sale was held at 9:00 am on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Washington County Courthouse. Registration and bidding for the annual tax sale must be done online at www.iowataxauction.com. Live bids are not accepted for the annual tax sale. Adjourned sales may be held anytime during regular office hours if parcels remain available for sale. Please contact the Treasurer's office for information on adjourned sales.
