Motor Vehicle Information
*Beginning January 1, 2022 in office title transfers will end at 4:00 p.m. daily*
**Beginning January 1, 2020 a bill of sale is required on all private party transfers**
To renew your motor vehicle online go to www.iowatreasurers.org with your PIN number from your renewal notice. We can assist you with that PIN if you don't have your notice, however, we need your plate number. Vehicle renewal does need to be done in the county you reside in and may be done the month prior to, the month of and the month after your registration month.
Driver's License Information
Driver's License Renewal is by Appointment Only. We offer car drives (no CDL or motorcycle) by appointment only on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Driver's license may be renewed 30 days prior and no more than 60 days after expiration and can be renewed in any Iowa county that offers the service.
A Real ID drivers license is required as of May 2025 (a gold star in the upper right hand corner of your license). To obtain a Real ID you are required to bring in ALL of the following documents: State Certified Birth Certificate (not the hospital one) or valid US passport, proof of name change from birth (marriage license/divorce decree/court order), your Social Security Card (or any document with full SSN number,) and two (2) proofs of your current IA address.
Credit and Debit cards are accepted in office for property tax, motor vehicle, and drivers license. Beginning January 2, 2020 debit card service fees are: $2.00 debit card and 2.25% of total charging for credit card and $1.50 for Driver's License.

- Office Hours: Monday thru Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM (Title transfers end at 4:00 p.m.)
- Drivers License Station: Monday thru Friday 8:30AM - 3:30PM
- Driver License Exams or Oral Tests: By Appointment Only
- Computer Tests: Available to take if office traffic allows but might not be able to issue that day
- Car Drives are available by appointment only on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 8:30-11:15AM. A current vehicle insurance card is required as well as a vehicle in good working order.
