 You may pay motor vehicle renewals and property taxes online, by mail or at our drop box.

Motor Vehicle & Property Tax - Loacated in the Courthouse,  111 High St NE Elkader.                                                      Available on a first come first serve basis 8:00 to 3:50.

Driver’s License -  Located at the County Office Building, 600 Gunder Rd Elkader.                                 Available on a first come first serve basis.

CLOSED DAILY - Noon to 12:30. 

Written Tests Available Daily 8:00 to 11:00  and  12:30 to 3:00. 

 Appointments required for Drive Tests call 563-245-3200.

Payment Methods Accepted in the Clayton County Treasurer's Office:

• Cash - US Currency Only
• Credit Cards - Service fee of 2.35% of total due applies
• Debit Cards - $2.00 service fee per transaction
• Checks, Money Orders or Cashier's Checks possessing an ABA routing number
• A $20 fee is assesed on all returned payments
