Black Hawk County will require a bill of sale for transferring vehicle titles beginning January 1, 2022.

Effective January 1, 2022, the County treasurers will require customers to provide a Bill of Sale when transferring titles to motor vehicles between private parties.  A Bill of Sale or purchase agreement is already required for vehicles purchased from a dealership.  The Bill of Sale should include: the seller's name, make of the vehicle, year of the vehicle, vehicle identification number (VIN) buyer's name, date of sale, purchase price and signature of seller.

Accepted On-Line Payment: E-Check ($.25 fee to use e-check), Discover, MasterCard, Visa (a non-refundable delivery fee of 2.25% on amount being charged for credit card usage)

Accepted In Office Payment:  Cash; Check; Debit Card ($2.00 fee to use debit card) Credit Card-Discover, MasterCard & Visa (please see above information for additional charge when using credit card).  All checks, money orders or Cashier's checks possessing an American Bank Association (ABA) routing number.

Payments may also be deposited in the secured drop box located in the parking lot near the Northeast corner of the Courthouse
